I’m a 26 year old professional freelance guitarist from New Jersey, USA and I live and breathe rock and roll. I started playing guitar when I was 8 years old and I’ve barely put it down since! Over the years, I’ve been the lead guitarist, lead singer, and songwriter for many bands and eventually I learned how to play enough instruments to completely self-produce my own albums (examples below). I have learned from several great guitarists such as Carlos Alomar (David Bowie) and for the past few years I’ve been under the mentorship of Al Pitrelli (Trans-Siberian Orchestra, Megadeth, Alice Cooper). I believe in playing to serve the song and creating the greatest musical experience possible for the listener. I also believe in great tone and great songs which is why I believe in Volbeat and what they stand for.

Volbeat has been one of many huge influences on how I play and write music. I believe that I have a unique way that I hear music versus other people my age and I’m always striving to bring that spirit and creativity to all kinds of situations. When I play live shows, my guitar playing elevates the energy in the room and I almost always see visual reactions from the crowd. It’s not something I’ve ever tried to do necessarily but it tends to happen just about every time. I pride myself on not just being the guitar player in the band but rather a whole new musical force to add to the great work that you already do. As far as what I can contribute to Volbeat, I can happily play guitar just like on the record or take creative liberties where allowed. I am perfectly comfortable with total creative musical freedom, strict direction, and everything in between. I also believe strongly in my abilities as a vocalist and I would love to sing background vocals as well. If it got to the point of me playing on a Volbeat record, the same sentiment applies because I only want to do what’s best for the record. You can see my references below for my original songs and the unique covers I’ve done to illustrate the vast array of approaches I take as a musician.

I’ve been working extensively with several of the top entertainment companies in New York City such as On The Move Entertainment and Element Music playing high end private events with some of the greatest talent around in some of the tightest bands around. I’ve made a name for myself among the NYC musicians not only because of my abilities as a musician but the people I work with have repeatedly claimed that I’m the most reliable person they’ve ever worked with. I take great pride in my work ethic as I can learn songs incredibly fast and accurate, make them sound like the record, and already be prepared by the time I get to the rehearsal or gig. I do all this because I absolutely love playing music and I want to do the absolute best I can at every step of the way. I believe in making the artist’s life easy so they don’t have to worry about if I’m ready or if I’ll add to any problems they have to deal with. I strive to make my presence as straightforward and easy-going as possible so we can all just play the gig and have a great time. The private event work I’ve done has brought me to a lot of great places in the USA like MetLife Stadium, the National Cathedral in Washington D.C., and the Petersen Auto Museum in Los Angeles. As much as I love this kind of work, my heart is in rock and metal music and the ability to express my creativity.

I draw inspiration from a large variety of influences which is why I love Volbeat’s music so much. It’s basically the most expertly crafted blend of all the musical styles I love. I grew up listening to punk bands like Green Day which led me to listen to earlier punk bands like Misfits and later punk bands like Rise Against. Classic rock like Van Halen, AC/DC, and Bon Jovi helped shape my love for well-crafted hit songs that had unforgettable performances. Hard rock and metal bands like Volbeat, Ghost, and Avenged Sevenfold showed me how amazing heavier music can really be and to this day, I can’t get enough of it. One other genre has always had a major place in my heart and that’s rockabilly. When I realized that Volbeat took elements of rockabilly and incorporated it into a metal band, my mind was blown and I was instantly hooked. Rockabilly is a genre I feel is greatly under-appreciated as I’ve been maybe one of about three people my age at every Brian Setzer concert I’ve ever gone to. To me what makes both rockabilly and metal great is they’re both genres of music that you have to experience live to fully understand. It’s a visceral feeling that I can’t explain but I know that I love it when the energy of the band fills the room.

As an artist, I’ve released two self-produced albums, an EP, and a handful of singles. I’ve always written very melodic rock songs that I’d want people to hear in an arena or stadium. I believe in strong hooks and coming up with amazing parts for the songs. Once again, this is why I’ve always been drawn to Volbeat’s music and I’ve even written several songs inspired by Volbeat. My one minor success story in regards to music I’ve released was last year when my cover of Mary On A Cross by Ghost started getting thousands of streams a day when their song went viral on TikTok. I had recorded and released the cover long before the trend occurred but it brought a lot of new people to my music and many people said that it was the best cover of the song out there. I had one other cover get some attention which was my rockabilly cover of Bad Guy by Billie Eilish. I decided to have some fun and experiment when I had nothing but time in 2020 and that’s how that cover came to be. I think it’s really interesting because I feel I truly made it my own and it displayed a side of my artistry that people rarely get to see. This is all of course to help demonstrate how my love of music helps me fit into all kinds of situations and ultimately create something memorable.

My personal connection with Volbeat is not only the fact that I absolutely love their music (Guitar Gangsters and Seal The Deal are among my all-time favorite albums), but that they’re a band that my dad and I have bonded over and have so many great memories from their music. We’d spend the summers driving in our Mustang convertible blasting Volbeat songs and they became the soundtrack to the great times in my life. The first time we got to see Volbeat live was in 2016 in Coney Island and to this day, it’s still one of the greatest shows I’ve ever seen. I also thought it was the strongest encore ever too with Black Rose, Guitar Gangsters, Seal The Deal, and Still Counting. It was absolutely incredible and it’s a memory that my dad and I both hold dear. The thought of ever potentially playing guitar for Volbeat would be a dream come true.
